When you ask most people what they need to be successful online, they will tell you that you need to generate website traffic and build your list.

The problem with this approach is that this statement does not go far enough.  You cannot go into internet marketing and have a plan that mirrors this:

Traffic + List + Product (Affiliate or Own) or Adsense/CPA = $$$$$

The reason for this is simple.  Your traffic strategy cannot simply be – get website traffic.  You need to understand that creating traffic should be your overall goal and your internet marketing or affiliate marketing strategy needs to be little more complicated:

Quality Opt In Page + Quality Email/Newsletter Content = List

article marketing/PPC/Traffic Exchanges/SEO + List= Traffic

Monetize Your Website and Emails/Newsletter = $$$$$

So when creating your internet marketing strategy, rember that traffic is an end, not the means to a profitable website.  Your goal should be to create traffic, not make the sale.  If you have enough website traffic, the sales or adsense clicks will come.
