Hard work was once the building block of every fortune.  While hard work definitely plays a large role in any business success. Its role in success for internet marketers is can be overstated by people looking to make the obstacle to success greater than it really is.

There are two fundamental schools of thought about this subject: some believe that hard work alone is the key to success, others believe that a combination of ingenuity along with hard work creates smart work.

So, which side is right?

There’s a great debate surrounding this issue.  We’ve all seen the gurus professing that you can make your million dollars in a matter of minutes.  On the other hand, there are thousands of stories about hardened entrepreneurs and marketers that claim it tooks months upon months of hard work to generate consistent income.

The messages are ture in both cases. Many businesses are built little by little over the years, and many balloon to success and large profits very quickly.

Regardless of the outcome, the essential factor among thriving online businesses and marketers is their ability to work smart, along with working hard. The most intelligent and most successful people all share the ability to optimize their efforts.

In order to get to that level of success, an extreme amount of smart work is necessary. The real question comes down to perspective. Hard work doesn’t equal success but is an essential element. Smart work isn’t essential to success but critical to explosive profits.

With the multitude of possibilities offered online for internet affiliate marketers, it is very feasible to focus entirely on the big picture and see incredibly lucrative returns. Do not feel discouraged when you have a big mountain of work in front of you, instead be selective in how you approach it. 10 minutes spent researching and comprehending your workload can save you several hours of blind hard work and allows you the chance to focus on the most important tasks that are critical to succuess.
